Reprinted from Engineering News-Record, April 1, 1926 Consulting Engineers, too, agree on one method of metal protection Questionnaire shows that 18 out of 20 use the same method as railwaystructural and industrial engineers CONSULTING engineers fol low the same practice in protecting metal surfaces against corrosion as do railway, struc tural and industrial engineers. This was shown in replies re ceived to a questionnaire recent ly sent out by a prominent engi neering organization to consult ing engineers located in widely ^00 separated parts of the country. Eighteen of the 20 engineers replying said they use, specify or recommend pure red-lead. Replies to the same questionnaire made previously by railway, structural and industrial engineers indi cated how general is this practice of protecting metal with pure red-lead. Forty-one out of 46 railway engi neers whoanswered the questionnaireuse, specify or rec ommend pure red-lead; 20 out of 26 structural engi neers said the same. Red-lead is also used, specified or recommended by 24 out of 29 industrial engineers. Many of these engineers also told why they choose pure red-lead for this important work of protecting metal surfaces. Here are a few reasons that are typical.
