ORAL LD50 TEST IN RATS
Summary:I
slightly toxic hen administered orally
to youngLadult CrL:CD male rats in single doses. Its LDcq is 1,855 mg/kg of
body weight. Clinical signs observed were: weakness, stained and wet
perineal area, stained face* alopecia,, lethargy, labored breathing,
salivation, prostration, bumped posture, moribujodity, pilorectlon and weight
loss. Deaths occurred up to 13 days after dosing.
Procedure: The test materiel, as an aqueous suspension in distilled water,
was administered by intragaqtric Intubation in single doses to 5 groups of 10 young adult Crl:CD* male rats. A range-finding study was conducted to determine the initial dose level for the LD50 test.** The surviving rats were weighed and observed during a 14-to 15-day recovery period and then sacrificed. The U)50 value was calculated from the mortality data using the method of D. J. Finney.*** '
