Dear Mr. Flannery:
As you undoubtedly know, information has recently been made public which indicates that a number of worksites in Ohio have posed an increased riak *- the health of employees at those locations. According to studies by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (KIOSK), tens of thousands of Ohioans have a greater chance s* r.i.ntractmg cancer, lung or heart disease, or other illnesses 'ey reason of their employment at these sites. These documents list t_\e Uniroyal, Incorporated plant in Fainesville as such a site.
1 am sure that we share a sense of concern for the health of the men and women who have worked at these sitea. Workers who have been exposed to toxic materials have the right to know the circumstances of that exposure and its effect on their lives. Although the disease risk of these individuals have been heightened/ notification followed by specialized screening procedures can lead to early detection and successful treatment.
I would appreciate knowing what measures your company hat taken or plans to undertake in order to make these employees aware of this situation. While mary of these individuals may now be retired or employed elsewhere, the obligation to notify them should not be lessen d.
Thank you for your consideration and cooperation, I look forward to your prompt reply.
