I would like to suggest for the Cunnings Manorial Lecture at cur meeting next spring Dr. Howard W. Hag ard of Yale, his subject to be the metabolic fate of various solvents. I know you are familiar with '-.is work, which is more or less unique and has been of enormous help to the good understanding of the mechanism of anesthesia and is of immense practical importance to us in industrial hygiene. Naturally I have said nothing to him. I must admit the receipt of a splendid manuscript from him entitled ''The Amyl Alcohols and their Ketones* Their .Metabolic Fates and Comparative Tonicities" made me think we would lose a good bet if we did not have him. He is an excellent and forceful speaker but the talk would be wholly technical. Personally I think that is what the Cummings Lecture should be. It is certainly what Don would have liked.
