ANSWERING LETTER OF
You will recall that in February, 195^ you provided me with the attached list of trade sales products which contained lead pigments. We have again received an inquiry from the Federal Trade Commission as to how we are complying with the order issued against our Company. I would appreciate it, therefore, if you would review the attached list and eliminate any of those products which are no longer in our line or which no longer contain lead pigments. In reviewing the list, I would also appreciate it if you would add any new products in our line which contain lead pigments.
You will recall our discussions at the time the list was originally prepared to the effect that it was estimated that over of the total paint products of the Paint Division which contained lead pigments were trade sales products. I assume that this is still the case and that it should not be necessary to review any of the industrial paint products for a determination of those industrial products which contain lead pigments. If, however, there is a significant change in the industrial paint products and there are a number of them which contain lead pigments and the total sales of these products is an important part of our industrial sales, then we will have to include those products in the list.
Inasmuch as our reply to the fTC should be forwarded within the next two weeks, I would appreciate receiving your comments as soon as possible concerning the current list of trade sales items which contain lead pigments.
