As you are aware, Canadian Pacific have refused to accept consignments of Asbestos because of the abnormally slow rata worked by the Dockers on a time work basis, causing subsequent delays in turning round their ships. At this meeting, we advised the Ministry of Labour that we were speaking on behalf of all the Asbestos Producers and various manufacturers on this occasion, in an endeavour to get prompt action to resolve this problem at the earliest moment, and if possible, prevent it spreading to other ports. For your further information, representations have also been made to the following Deputy High Commissioner of Canada The Canadian Chamber of Commerce Deputy Agent General for the Province of Quebec Canadian Commercial Councillor Board of Trade - Mr The Ocean Shipowners'Group Joint Committee - Mr F.
