ACUTE ORAL TOXICITY OF FUMAZONE 70E FUMIGANT Biochemical Research Laboratory The Dow Chemical Company Midland, Michigan July 12, 1966 I. INTRODUCTION Fumazone 70E is a light amber liquid material possessing an aromatic odor. A sample bearing the reference number Lot 02176-48 was submitted to the Biochemical Research Laboratory of The Dow Chemical Company for the purpose of conducting acute oral toxicity studies on male and female albino rats. Copies of original laboratory protocol sheets are appended to this report. 11` COMPOSITION OF FUMAZONE 70E Active ingredient: 1,2-Dibromo-3-chloropropane . . . 67*5# Inert ingredients:............................................................................ 32-5# III. LABORATORY METHOD The toxicltyi by single dose oral administration of Fumazone 70E fumigant was assessed in the laboratory by administering, the material as a 10# solution in corn oil, to male and female albino rats. All animals were fasted overnight prior to administering the material. After dosing, the animals were caged in groups of five and allowed to eat and drink ad libitum. All animals were weighed immediately prior to administering the material, the day following dosing and at weekly intervals thereafter, or when practical, until the animals had regained any weight loss which might have resulted from the acute toxic effects.
