CONNECTING COLLARS are of cast iron construction and are securely bolted at close inter vals to form leak-proof joints. Collars join with a tight tongue and groove joint. RADIATOR SMOKE COLLAR is of cast iron construction. It is connected to the radiator gas tight by the insertion of an asbestos gasket and by bolts spaced at close intervals. Notice that collar is located at the base of radiator so that gases travel through the entire radiator before pass ing into the flue. -V' TYPE BAFFLE causes the hot gases to heat the entire radiator uniformly before they pass up the flue. JOINTLESS LEAK-PROOF ASH PIT is made possible by the weld ing of the base of the asb pic to the shell. SHELL is constructed of No gauge boiler plate, riveti and welded. The Allerton is available in four sizes, in models for Coal (stoker or hand-fired,) or Oil (Gun and Rotary cype burners.) Inner Casing Construction The galvanized iron Inner Casing of the Allerton serves a dual purpose. It brings return air in close contact with the Heating Element, and keeps jacket cool. Air from the blower is diverted two ways: The major part enters the opening in the Inner Casing and passes upward wiping the Heating Element. The remainder of the air travels be tween the jacket and the inner Casing absorbing heat, and through holes in the latter, joins the air from the heating compartment, at the top. * As a result of this method of handling air from the Blower, practically no heat is lost, and the circulating air between the jacket and Inner Casing keeps the jacket relatively cool. 4 03614 f STOKER FIRED MODEL With Clinker Disposal Pouch The Allerton will accommodate bin feed or hopper feed stok ers of any standard make. The stoker screw tube can be installed from front, rear or either side without cutting of the shell by the installer. Chutes are provided at both sides and at the rear of the heating element. Metal covers and gaskets are provided to seal the chutes not used. (Nos. D-5522-9 and 0-5522-12 are not furnished with chute at the rear.) Where a bin feed stoker is to be installed with the screw' tube below the base of the unit, the coal, hand fired model must be used. A clinker disposal pouch is standard equipment on stoker models. Hot clinkers are dropped into ash pit through an opening in the feed section plate. Clinker gases are then vented to the flue with other products of combustion. When stoker screw tube is installed from front, clinkers cannot be removed through ash pit door opening. The stoker model is equipped with a fire brick lining around the fire box section. Grate assembly is omitted. Standard coal burning doors are furnished. GUN AND ROTARY TYPE OIL BURNING MODELS The Allerton Winter Air Conditioner is available in gun and rotary type oil burning models. Any standard make of oil burner can be accommodated. When the Allerton is furnished for gun type burner, mineral wool is supplied for insulating the space between tbe front casting and shell, as illustrated at right. The insulation is supported and kept in place by a horizontal plate and a liner of heat-resisting steel. ROTABY OIL BURNING MODELS The Allerton rotary oil burner model (not illustrated) is fur nished with a hearth plate which rests on a cast iron ring held in position by brackets and sealed with asbestos rope. The sides of the heating element are protected from flame impingement by an inner lining of special heat-resisting steel. Insulating mineral wool is furnished as in the gun type model. The heating elements of both the gun and rotary rype oil burn ing models are constructed of No. 8 gauge boiler plate and are riveted and welded for leak proof construction and to permanently withstand the strain of expansion and contrac tion caused by intermittent oil firing. The heating elements of the Allerton are built to merit the reputation for long life, high heating capacity and trouble-free service that has been established by other Sunbeam Winter Air Conditioners. AUTOMATIC SPRAY TYPE HUMIDIFIER <Optional at Extra Cost) This type of spray humidifier is designed for installation in the plenum chamber of Sunbeam Winter Air Conditioners and is automatically controlled by a room humidistat. It operates on the principle of breaking up the water into a fine spray and thus making it easier for.the air to absorb the moisture. The amount of water atomized be adjusted by changing the position of the atomizing plate. The spray humidifier is equipped with four nozzles. If one nozzle clogs it is turned off and the next one turned on until all are clogged. All four nozzles are cleaned at one time --a simple operation. NOTE: Plenum chamber not furnished with Humidifier or Conditioner. STOKER FIRED mode! of tbe Allertoa. Bottom of opening is 4V4" above floor level. GUN TYPE OIL BURNER MODEL 03615 AUTOMATIC FLOAT TYPE HUMIDIFIER (Optional at Extra Cost) This humidifier comes complete with all parts necessary for instal lation in the plenum chamber of Sunbeam Winter Air Conditioners. A series of ceramic plates set in the pan increase the evaporating surface and efficiency and distinguish this humidifier from ordinary types. The ceramic places arc of the highest quality, large pored and well spaced to assure positive evaporation. The evaporator pan and the ceramic plate holder arc porcelain enameled inside and out to guard against oxidization and assure easy cleaning. Each size pan is supplied with a certain number of ceramic plates as standard equipment, but is so designed that more places may be added at a slight additional cost should the owner desire more humidity. NOTE: Plenum chamber not furnished with Humidifier or Conditioner. AUXILIARY HOT WATER HEATER COILS For Use in Coal Burning Models Only Illustrated at the right is the auxiliary hot water coil available for installation in the AJIerton coal burning models at a slight addi tional cost. This galvanized coil will furnish much of the hot water required in a home, during the winter months when the Allerton is under fire. There are no joints which might leak, as the coil is formed of one continuous pipe. The auxiliary hot water coil is in stalled through openings provided in the front of heating element beside the feed door, as illustrated in the picture opposite. CONTROL EQUIPMENT Temperature Control Equipment, for any degree of regu lation that may be desired by any borne owner, is available with Sunbeam Winter Air Conditioning Units. Control combinations are provided which give control of tem perature from one central point in a home, or from several different rooms. The individual instruments, which are included in the various combinations, are generally considered the finest available. The proper combination of controls for each and every temperature regulation requirement is listed in the current Trade Price List for Sunbeam Winter Air Conditioning Units.
