This standard was promulgated and is effective under the authority of the Federal Department of Labor.and its Occupational Safety and Health Act. * ' It lowers the pernissable airborne concentration of asbestos from 12 fibors/cc to 5 fibers/cc, a level we have been working toward but have hot fully reached in either Berlin or Bloomington. This standard.further states that when these limits are exceeded and engineering controls has not suitably reduced the exposure, "the employer shall require the use of respiratory protective devices". In addition, there ere rules and regulations dealing with waste ar.c scrcr handling and disposal. In both M.
