Deer Doctors Since I saw you only very briefly at Rochester at the Annual Meeting, I did not get an opportunity to discuss vith you, aa I di<! vith several other Directors present there, th 1944 meeting Sven prior to the Rochester meeting I had done acne ground vork vith the view of having the Board elect St. Louis as the 1944 host oity, said slnoe then, have done some acre thinking on the sane subject. At every hand I have net encourage- believe that Industrial Medicine in this locality needs, ore than anything else, the impetus which an annual meeting of the Association and its affiliate groups would bring* Our Industrial Hygiene group here is an. active one and our Industrial Burses club is about to petition the national organisatloa. B oth of our Class A medical schools would give us a good olini cal progra* on consecutive mornings . Several new industries and plants would afford some of the practical aspects. Since the program of papers Is not aade up from talent of the host city slone, this could be what we desired to have it. In 1944 it wi 11 be the midwest*s turn to entertain and an unsuccess- ful bid wa s made for the 1942 meeting at Pittsburgh but you folks in Clnolnx^atl beat us to it. Hotel and entertainment facilities in St. Loul s would compare with the best. A piece of missionary vork could be dene here since the relatively lethargic position of lndustrlal medicine oould be converted into an enthusiastic situation, There are few Members here and fewer Fellows, but you ay be sura that we can give a good accounting. I have dls cussed this proposed selection of 31;. Louis in 1944 with both Dr. Bartle and Dr. Ho lablad as wall as many of the Directors and I understand that St. Louis rates high. I have offered to do anything that I might do further and, while it will be a few onths before the decision is made regarding the 1944 meeting, I have always believed in an early start.
