FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE HEW YORK, JULY 14, 1964 - National Lead Company has announced the appointments, in the Pacific Coast Branch, of Richard J. Marklin as plant man ager at Los Angeles and Richard C. Savage as plant manager of the San Francisco and Seattle plants with offices at 8an Francisco. Mr. Marklin joined National Lead as a paint chemist at San Francisco in 1942 and became assistant paint plant superintendent the following year. After three years service with the U.S. Navy, he returned to his former position in 1946. He was named plant superintendent in 1958 and transferred to Los Angeles in 1963 to prepare for his present assignment. Mr. Marklin received his B.S. in chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley. He is a member of Los Angeles Paint, Varnish euid Lacquer Association and Los Angeles Society for Paint Technology. Mr. Savage was first employed by National Lead in 1949 as an indus trial chemist at the Los Angeles plant where he was named chief chemist in 1951. He was transferred to National Lead Company (Philippines) in 1954 as superintendent of the plant at Manila. He returned to the United States in 1959 as technical superintendent of the company1s San Francisco laboratory and was appointed technical supervisor of the Pacific Coast Branch in 1961. Later in the year, he was named plant manager at Seattle. Mr. Savage attended the University of California, Los Angeles and the University of the Philippines.
