Dear Ms. Strassman-Sundy:
As follow-up to our telephone conversation regarding a proposed study of herbicide exposure and birth defects, I am sending the report we prepared for the Oregon Pesticide Analytic Research Center (PARC) and the State Health Department.
We feel the proposed study, if PARC and the Oregon Health Department decide to formally invite CDC to help conduct it, is very much the type of cooperative effort that would be covered by the pending interagency agreement between SAD/EPA and the Chronic Diseases Division, CDC. Our problem as mentioned in our conversation, is that we currently do not have the manpower or the funds to conduct such a large study. Because of our mutual interest in herbicide exposure and health effects, the proposal should be of interest to the E.P.A. If EPA finds the proposal of interest and current funding is available, we should explore our mutual interest as soon as possible in anticipation of the request for assistance from the PARC 1**" d and the Oregon Health Dept.
Sincerely yours
