Its membership -includes manufacturers of equipment and products ranging from locomotives and cars to nuts and bolts il' and also large producers in the steel, aluminum and ' ' electrical industries. / ~ ^ The R. From 1900 through 1904 exhibit conventions were held at Saratoga Springs, N. Y. and in 1905 at 7I A 11 l_ J...----- V_____ I____I. Manhattan Beach, N. Y. Starting in 1906 the o.. ,ention was moved to Atlantic City's "Million Dollar Pier" and continued to be held there yearly through 1916 and after World War l. in 1919, 1920, 1922,-1924, 1926 and 1928. In 1930, 1937 and 1947 the conven tions were held in the Municipal Convention Hall at Atlantic City ah<^ the track.exhibits on the rails of the. Pennsylyania-Reading'Seashore Linesi;one mile from the convention balk 4. \ At the 1947 exhibit convention 287 exhibitors filled, all available space ia- the Convention Hall and bad track exhibits on .three parallel tracks, each 1,450 ft. long. The track exhibit included nine Diesel-electric locomotives, one steam-turbine electric locomotive and an all-welded steam locomotive boiler. There were 16 freight-train -cars, three air dump cars and one alumi num alloy tank car. Eight passenger-train cars and a . power shovel, completed the track exhibit. In 1919 the American Railway Master Mechanics' Association and the Master Car Builders' Association were combined to form the Mechanical Division, Asso ciation of American Railroads and since that year the R. S. M. A. has sponsored the Atlantic City exhibits for that division. In 1920 the Purchases and Stores Division of the A.A.R.' held its annual meeting during the Me chanical Division's meeting at Atlantic City in order to" take advantage of the exhibits and it has continued thispractice in exhibit convention years. ' ^ ' Plans are being made to bold an exhibit convention, 'at Atlantic Gty, June 21-27, 1953 in conjunction with * {the annual meetings of-tHe Mechanical and Purchases - & Stores Divisions of the A.A.R.
