I ;just hay received word from Doctor Lanahan that the Executive Vice President of the company is now in favor of periodic lead determinations in urine, and has asked for a detailed program. The company seems to prefer my laboratory at Jef ferson Medical College to a laboratory of their own or to a private laboratory. We could, of course, arrange for making these examinations. However, it seems to me that the company has very strange ideas about the costs of such a vast enterprise. We may have to start with about fifteen hundred to two thousand deter minations of lead in urine (per month), and this number may be increased if the other plants of the company send their urine samples. In addition, air determinations have to be done, and occasionally blood samples examined. I hope I do not impose on you if I ask you to in form me how you handle such rather large contracts, especially how you bill the companies.
