My dear Bob: I recently received a letter from Mr* Evans of the Wakefield Oil Company in which he states that their preliminary experiments on the use of tetraethyl lead in lubricating oil are distinctly encouraging. I am wondering if you have carried out any experiments on your end of the game and also whether you have any comments to make on Calingaert* s report on the vapor pressures and rates of evaporation. If their results continue to be favorable we may be approached in the not too distant future for supplies of tetraethyl lead, and I would like to be able to give them some sort of an answer.
