College of Medicine, Eden Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio. : ', ' Dear Kehoe, I am writing to ask whether you could let me have information on the sort of routine tests you employ to determine the possible industrial hazards of new chemicals. The reason I am writing is that I have been put on a committee in which the Imperial Chemical Industries are interested on the question of building up an organisation to screen all new products and intermediaries. The idea is to find out possible toxic hazards before the process is actually put into commercial practice. Eventually I thi-k they will set up an organisation similar to the one that you have in the University of Cincinnati, but just at this very early stage I would very much like to have the benefit of your guidance. I have told them that in my opinion it would be necessary to have an institute similar to the Kettering Laboratory and that eventually they should have some department of university status. I know that you have done a great deal of work quite apart from lead and any information that you could give me will be very gratefully received and, needless to say, acknowledged. I understand Davison is with you and I am sure t^at he will profit very much from his visit. We have found him an excellent colleague and in addition to being a very pleasant person he is very keen and highly competent. I must say I envy him his visit to the States.
