Cantwell of the U.S. Department of Labor apparently coiriucted a safety visitation in response to the complaint filed by your employee, D. E. Cooper. As a result of this visit, they are recamending a dust count and noise survey by industrial hygienists of the U.S. Department of Labor. If you will review again the industrial hygiene surveys made by Abex in August 1972, October 1972, January-February 1973, ani September 1973, you will fin! information perhaps worthy of another glance. NOISE - With respect to noise measurements, the following may be said. (1) ' The reports of January 31, 1973 and September 10-14, 1973 contain complete data on noise exposures. (2) The report of September 10, 1973 provides complete noise data an the Block Finish Department where Mr. Cooper's complaint originated. (3) The combined data from the January and September 1973 reports provides a rather complete picture of noise exposures in the plant. Approximately 50 locations are considered noise hazardous. Recommendations were made on page 3 of the September 10-14, 1973 report. ASBESTOS (1) The October 2-6, 1972 report contains references to exposures in the Block Finish Department. (2) Page five of the September 10-14, 1973 report bears reference to the Block Finish Department and to the exhaust systems. (3) All three reports coveT asbestos in the Book and Block Preform Departments.
