I'd like to close the circle on an old problem which you may not be aware of. Asbestos Gaskets. It was previously recommended that gasket storage areas be periodically cleaned with a vacuum and if possible lowered to shelves below the "nose level". This is a sensitive issue among the pipefitters which has been brought to my attention on several occasions. This potential exposure to asbestos fibers may appear to be insignificant but does represent a route of potential clothing contamination and nonroutine fiber inhalation. I'm unclear as to why the problem persists, perhaps I should have contacted Stores rather than Maintenance. This issue needs to be resolved one way or the other - the recommendation seems to be just hanging in mid-air. If you could run this by the Maintenance Group, I would appreciate it. If I can assist, please let me know. Vacuums which are used for asbestos should utilize an enclosed bag design to prevent exposure when emptying. Thanks again.
