On October 30, 1981, J. Barlow received a VCM TWA of 3.4 ppm while cleaning D327 reactor. D327 was being cleaned for a product change from Copolymer to Homopolymer service and was being "supercleaned." It is believed the manual vent was restricted thus reducing the reactor purge during the initial cleaning steps.

On November 5, 1981, S. Atkinson received a 5.0 PPM VCM TWA while transferring reactor batches in Bldg. 7 and Bldg. 1 West.
The high TWA was caused by leaks in the recovered monomer charge lines in upper Bldg. 1 West, After the VCM leaks were detected, the lines were evacuated and all leaks were welded. Also, a maintenance work order was submitted to replace the entire charge header in Bldg. 1 West. This charge header has been welded three times in the past month to repair leaks.
