However, conalderable intercet has been developed in Montars 1, 2, 3 and A, and it appears that a large percentage of our total supply of these materials will be sold. According to Technical Sales Bulletin No. 0-139, dated August 1956, the following paragraph is quoted: Toxicity and Safe Handling Information "No formal toxicity data exist on Montar compounds. As a general precaution, prolonged skin contact should be avoided, especially when working with solutions of the compounds. Otherwise, the compositions can be handled in the same manner as roofing tar." According to Mr. Jack Clegorn, Aroclor Supervisor, tome toxicity has been noted in the past in experiments run with rats. In view of Mr. Clegorn's apprehension about the toxicity of this material and the fact that large quantites of Montars may be sold for use by several customers, I would like to know specifically what toxicity data is known concerning Montars. If this data is inadequate, 1 recommend that sufficient teats be - run to determine its toxicity so that proper safety precautions can he recommended to our customers. JECimd /y. E.
