The welding is a unique and STRATEGIC technology, for construction and repair The European Welding Association (EWA) is an industrial association which comprises national associations and manufacturers of electric and flame welding equipment, welding and brazing consumables, equipment to ensure the health and safety of welders ( fume extraction systems included) across Europe. EWA was founded in 1958 and its official headquarters are located in Paris. Objectives of the association The association focuses on the mutual technical and economic interests of the European welding industry and its customers by : - Participating in the development and application of all relevant technical issues, standards, European directives, recommendations (from ECHA and REACH... ) affecting the welding industry, in cooperation with trade organisations, EU authorities and all other relevant bodies. - Publishing recommendations of the safe use of the welding - Giving the position of the industry when necessary - Gathering and analysing industry specific market and trends - Promoting the welding industry, and the safe use of welding / cutting Repartition of the european market (arc welding equipment + welding consumables) in 2020 Members of the association Membership is open to : European national associations of manufacturers of Welding/brazing consumables, Electric arc welding equipment, cutting equipment, Flame equipment, equipment for assuring health and safety of the welders (including fume extraction systems ), as well as products of related technologies European manufacturers of the above-mentioned products with a manufacturing facility in Europe and which already are members in the national welding association where its headquarters is based The welding processes combine the materials into what become a single work piece. Welding joins metals with metal using specialized metal fillers produced either as wire or as individual rods. The chemistry deployed in those wires and rods depends on the application or metal types to be joined. The main segment of construction uses welding and brazing as a unique and strategic technology. Welding and brazing are used for the construction of : Building and infrastructures - metallic construction Transport equipment : Train Automotive Ships Aircraft Energy Oil and gas processes Pipelines and pipe mills Power plants (hydraulic, gas, nuclear) Windmills Petrochemical and chemical industry Equipment for other industrial processes such as food industry, storage, tanks, waste treatment... According the EWA code of conduct, every member agrees that EWA activities are at all times carried out in accordance with the applicable laws, especially competition laws. Membership is open to all manufacturers of welding materials and equipment and related technologies (as fume extraction systems) with a production facility within Europe.
