Y. ~ re; Warning Label G-P Joint Compound Dear Hoyt I spoke to Mr, Don Lamberton of Georgia Pacific this morning, * concerning the warning label on their Joint Compound. Mr. Lamberton advises me that New York State has not changed pos ition on the rejection of Georgia Paoifio Ready-mix Joint com pound. The~situation7is7that the State Inspector will not approve ^he material^because it contains asbestos fiber. I have call-ed both United States Gypsum and The Proko Company. Both firms " toll me that'their products also contain asbestos fiber. All of the gypsum product manufacturers tell me that federal reg ulations require a warning label, but, the produots are relat ively unchanged since drywall construction began. fl-know^of'no'product'that contains anything other than asbestos vfiber.75 The State people are either unwilling or unable to name a manufacturer of. an asbest06-free product.
