Your inputs in this investigation were very helpful in establishing what really happened and the things that contributed to the cause of this fire. The action that you personally took on your own initiative to control the fire most certainly minimized the severity of this incident, and your own actions are recognized and commended for this fine perfor mance. One of the investigation recommendations involves the replacement of the existing transfer pump with a new, more suitable pump and seal design (including an outside location) which we all hope will minimize our safety exposure to this type of problem. Although the existing transfer pump may have served us well over the years, there have been improvements made in pumps and seals over the last 10-15 years which can be used to better this situation.
