Yesterday, we had a meeting with our colleagues from the other Member States and we agreed to give the respective consultants additional time to finalize their reports. This will allow the consultants to extend the deadlines they are using for their contacts with stakeholders. It is now up to RPA to decide which deadline they will use for Plastics Europe (I can imagine that they will keep the general deadline the same to avoid too many late reactions, but use another deadline for big organizations with complex supply chains. In the time leading up to and following the release of the Chemical Strategy for Sustainability, and the Staff Working Document on PFAS, the PlasticsEurope Fluoropolymer Group has been active in reaching out and supporting downstream users to encourage the value chain to be involved in providing data and information during the assessment of a potential PFAS Restriction. Along with our group's response, each of our members has also replied individually to your "Call for Evidence supporting an analysis of restriction options for PFAS". We have engaged proactively with your consultants in charge of the various studies and have organized an exchange with them to present fluoropolymers and answer their questions on Friday 13 November. We would like to thank you for the opportunity to respond to these additional surveys and to continue to work closely with you and all Member States. We are currently examining the questionnaires sent by your consultants. However, we want to raise our concerns about the extremely short deadlines that were given, to answer to these multiple questionnaires. Our industry wants to provide meaningful and reliable data taking into account many different critical applications. Due to the nature of our supply chain, the task is particularly challenging as we have to reach out to our downstream users and wait for their replies. In some instances, this process requires multiple discussions as some downstream users may still not be fully aware of the process and its impact on their applications or industry. The allocation of our resources in such a short period of time is also extremely challenging given the current pandemic situation. This call for evidence and its associated questionnaires are of utmost importance for the future of our industry, this is why we want to provide you with the most complete set of data available. Answering these detailed questionnaires in two weeks or less is unrealistic if we are to provide diligent and comprehensive answers, and we therefore kindly ask you to consider extending the deadline for responding. We understand that the Norwegian agency agreed to extend the deadline for the F-gases 2965146 consultation. We would like to ask the other sector-specific consultations to be extended for, at least, the same period of time as well. The consultation on the `PFAS production' by a consultant RPA would however require more time for the reasons mentioned above. We would therefore kindly ask you to extend the deadline to respond for this particular consultation to the end of February 2021.
