My letter did not intend to convey the thought that we had reached a firm decision to dis continue our financial support, but rather to indicate that we were placing ourselves in a position of greater flexibility relative to this specific project. We fully appreciate the importance of the work being carried out by you on the subject of lead toxicology, and agree with you that support should be furnished by the TELmanufacturers. After we have had an opportunity to discuss with the Surgeon General the ideas set forth in the recommendation of the Ad Hoc Committee on the more extended determination of lead in air, we would be happy to review with you the entire subject of atmospheric lead contamination. It is my understanding that the Ethyl Corporation will be in touch with you in the very near future to set up a meeting in Washington with the Surgeon General.
