NEW YORK, JUNE 6, 1967 - Alfred H. Drewes, president of National Lead Company, died today in Harkness Pavilion, ColumbiaPresbyterian Medical Center, after an illness of several months. He was 53 years of age and lived in Englewood, New Jersey.
Mr. Drewes joined National Lead Company in 1935* He advanced through various positions in the Comptroller's Department and in 19^7 he was appointed assistant to the president. In 1950 he was elected a director and member of the executive committee. He was elected a vice president in 1951 and an executive vice president in 1963* In 1965 he was elected president.
Mr. Drewes was a director of American Re-Insurance Company; The Baker Castor Oil Company; Barber Die Casting Co. Limited; Baroid de Venezuela, S.A.; Baroid of Canada, Limited; Barytes and Minerals Limited; The Carter White Lead Company of Canada, Ltd.s Morris P. Kirk and Son, Inc.; Lakeshore Die Casting Limited; Magnus Metal Corporation; Metal Castings Doehler, Ltd.; Master Metals, Inc.; Mineral Deposits Pty. Limited; National Lead Company of Ohio; National Lead Overseas Corp.; National Starch and Chemical Corporation; Pioneer Aluminum Inc.; R-N Corporation; Southern Screw Company; Societe Industrielle du Titane; The Chas. Taylor Sons Company; Titan Company, Inc.; Titanium Metals Corporation of America and. Titanium Pigment Corporation.
He was active in civic and community affairs in Englewood, serving as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Englewood Hospital,

the Dwight School for Girls and the Three School Development Foundation. He was an elder in the United Presbyterian Church in the United States of America and had served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the First Presbyterian Church in Englewood and, more recently, as a member of its Session.
Mr. Dreves was a member of Englewood Club, Englewood Field Club, Bankers Club of New York, Knickerbocker Country Club, Tenafly, N. J. and Economic Club of New York.
Mr. Drewes was a graduate of Columbia University with a B.A. degree in 1934, and had completed Graduate Work at Columbia University Graduate School of Business.
He is survived by his widow, the former Marjorie E. Puppo, by three children, Jane Elizabeth, Anne Evelyn and Alfred H., Jr., and by two sisters.
Funeral services for Mr. Drewes will be held in the First Presbyterian Church, Englewood, New Jersey on June 8, at 11:00 A.M. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alfred H. Drewes Memorial Fund, College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University, 630 West l68th Street, New York City.
