1__- TPM GOALS - 1970 FUNCTIONAL FLUIDS AND CELLU-CHEM W. A. KUHN Act, guide, assist, participate, plan, stimulate and other wise contribute to the efforts of the Business Groups, Technical Service Departments and Manufacturing Management to achieve the following goals which relate to Business Group and Manufacturing objectives: CELLU-CHEM Tall Oil Operation - Regain control! - Develop capability to blend CTO feed with predictable and consistent composition by 4/1/70. - Establish what the yields should be and then achieve them by 4/1/70. - Establish base capacities for each piece of equipment (by 2/1/70) and the optimum way of running the system (by 3/1/70) to achieve needed TORA for 53.000 M pounds of Merslze during 1970. - Develop a system for continuousmonitoring to assure that optimum operation is being achieved by 4/1/70. - Establish meaningful and useful reporting of results by 3/1/70. - Establish maintenance and production program which will result in an overall on-stream capability of 93# for 1970 and 95# for 1971. - Determine need for pitch stripper by 2/1/70. Establish justification for same by 3/l/70. Determine what other changes are required to achieve 88 M pound/year of TORUFA by 4/1/70. - Achieve or beat budgeted cost. - Establish well publicized policy that unit will be operated to please both Monsanto and Emery as a Joint operation. Complete investigations and establish firm plan to achieve Improvement to meet or beat Santobrite competitive quality by 5/1/70 if major change is required. Demonstrate Penta in expanded facility by 4/1/70. Demonstrate low 2MBF cumene phenol use with fraction recycle by 5/1/70. Establish capability to produce Santobrite D to meet U.K. ROW requirements by 4/1/70. Meet or beat 1970 budgeted manufacturing costs as follows: Molten Penta Prilled Penta Penta 60 Santobrite 7.67 <f>/pound 10.09 ^/pound 15.50 ^/pound 19.72 p/pound PB-702 Achieve timely production of interim quan tities of PB-702 to meet developmental needs. Work with Manager of Environmental Control on all manufacturing related actions required by the Wildlife situation. Control improvement activities and capital investments at a level commensurate with the up-to-date thinking on the future of the Aroclor family of products. Biphenyl Complete Biphenyl Improvement studies by 1/1/71 with a gain in knowledge worth at least twice the study cost. New Products Complete production of interim quantities of pCP and NCPDPP by 5/1/70. Assuming successful field testing, have EE Building and Central Blending facilities modified to accommodate the ester and its blends as permanent products by 8/1/70. Resolve pCP Interim production problems and reach decision regarding future production by 5/1/70. LOCATION RESPONSIBILITY AND FUNCTIONAL DIRECTION MCL Achieve firm decision on production of Santotherm 66 and Solid Aroclors by 5/1/70. Resolve maximum capability of Biphenyl wit and determine future needs by 5/1/70. Anniston TSD Increase personal contact by doubling visits to Anniston. Conduct informal review of performance of key individuals twice during 1970. Achieve cost savings of $500,000 (all products). Increase technical guidance by doubling the project review sessions.
