Giessel 211 Milby Street 3Houston ? Terns Sear Dr* Giessel: I am scary not to have acknowledged your letter sooner. I have just returned from a trip East, part of the time being spent at the Industrial Hygiene foundation meeting in Pittsburgh. I believe that there is little or nothing that I can add to my earlier not. From scraps of information which I picked up at Pittsburgh and elsewhere in the East, I am more than ever convinced that EDTA is a very potent and useful drug but one which should be used only with very clear indications, I a also satisfied that there is as yet no convincing arguments to indicate that the oral use of EBTA in treatment of plumbism is a worthwhile procedure. Dr. Foreman's paper on the kidney injury from EDTA is to appear we hope in an early issue of the AMA Journal and I will be happy to call it to your attention when we learn the date of publication. Very sincerely yours, ,77.'in 7," 171 ' ." M S L. S E I M , M. Health Division Leader TLS/lca be: M. Bowditeh, H. Hardy. R. Johnstone, J. Sterner, R. Kehoe tig 0014848
