Development work is being done on V-705 and the results to date still look interesting, `.'e have heard criticem that this particular oil takes longer to process and has poor water resistance. However, we believe we have overcome the first criticism and are not able to confirm the lack of water resistance. If this oil can be \>orked out satisfactorily, it will undoubtedly simplify our oil inventory. This report also shows the development of V-357 for use by the Canadian plant, and using 0-239 as the principal oil. This v;as made as neither Esskol or Xel-X-L are readily available in Canada. V/e have had a great deal of difficulty recently formulating a high solids wrinkle vehicle as shown by Hr. Oertling. Trouble has beon encountered with reactivity in conjunction with metallic driers of all sorts. V/e would welcome any suggestions by other plants. The revision of V-833^ is also 6hoirn in this report, and v/e hope to be able to arrive at some conclusion before too long. Hr. M. L. Pinns shov/s the development of a new wire enamel in this same report. This v/as made primarily Tor heavy wire and differs from the usual in tliat it contains more oil than normal. The paint lab report shows the result of erroosures of DuPont's R-610 versus Titanium Pigment Company's RAITC in an automotive enamel. The results indicate no noticeable difference. This report also shov/s a comparison between Aroplaz 1320 and our omi GRV-2018 in an automotive typo enamel. While exposures vrill be con tinued, there is no apparent difference at this time. Several formulas have been made for use on a Ronci Coating Machine and are shown in this same report, A black has been formulated for use on speed nuts, and a red, blus and purple for wire springs. Mr. ITusser shov/s the results of further testing v/ith wash primer as reported on in last month's issue; also the results of his work vdth Venetian blind finishes. The trade sales report shows comparisons between ITo. 6l, 35/>> leaded zinc from American Zinc Sales, and our regular V/-6. These results are' in favor of '7-6. Tests have also been made and show in this same report trying to replace GRV-I717 in Y-I867 v/ith V-872. Also the report of Mr. Hayward's examination of alkyd ex tenders oroduced by Price Varnish Company is shovm. Mr. Ellis shov/s the results of his investigation on Spec. 3-184, Lacquer, P.ust Inhibiting, Clear. Most of this is centered around the effect of the rust inhibit ing ingredient. Tests have been made by Mr. Kirsch comparing V.'-lB? to two new products submitted by 0, J, Osbourn as representing foreign lithopono, Roth of these look to be very excellent, and v/e should like to see greater ouantities if they are available.
