Quigley, Jr., Director of Marketing Dow Chemical Company Midland, Michigan- h-8640 Dear Mr. Quigley: - It is necessary for freight rate/ purposes that we.establish beginning date and state the target quantity of vinyl chloride monomer to be shipped by you to Fireptone in the following twelve months. This is Firestone notice that ifhe beginning date for this purpose shall be July 1, 1968. Quantity to be specified to the railroads shall be 75,000 tons minimum for combined total shipments to Pottstown, Pa., and Perryville, /Maryland,- during the twelve months ending June 30, 1969* ,4 ie r ,-v-It is our understanding that during this quantity/period the railroads will-charge a total rate/of $65/cvrt." for delivery of",^.4. Firestone does not guarantee to Dow the purchase of such a quantity of vinyl monomer. We recognize that, if our actual purchases and delivery schedule^ to you during the twelve months fall short of 75,000 tons, Dow will be called upon to reimburse the rail carriers the difference between $.65/cwt. and that rate which is applicable to the total quantity we actually ordered for shipment in the period. In the! event Firestone will reimburse Dow for the additional freight charges you are obligated to pay for that reason. -- It is also our understanding Dow may not have sufficient 38,000 gallon cars available by July 1, 1968 and some shipments may be in smaller cars. However, Dow shall bill Firestone freight only as though all shipments were in the 3^,000 gallon size. Also, any freight adjustment-for which we would be obligated to reimburse Dow due to total volume less than 75,000 tons shall-be figured as though the entire quantity actually shipped during the period was in 38,000 gallon cars.
