These relate to recent Gulf Coast Section Activities but could apply in general with AIHA LRP activities dealing with student chapters and student career information as discussed in your letter of 2/7/84 to subcommittee chairman. Indirect benefits would be realized in the Public Relations area. Science Fairs Most school districts, state school boards or other allied groups stage science fairs at the high school level. This year the Gulf Coast Section established an awared category in safety and health for a regional fair. A savings bond was given as the award and presented the next local section meeting. Surprisingly, even without pre-notification to participants of the category, eight exhibits were found to be applicable for judging. This type of activity could be explored and mechanics for doing it conveyed to local sections. Career Days These are held at various levels of education from technical schools to junior colleges to four-year program schools. The Gulf Coast Section recently participated in one at the University of Houston. The national office provided some pass-out and display materials and local section members worked the booth.
