Subject: Respirator Fit Testing
On 3-9-90 you received a wewo frow we on this subject. A copy of it is attached for your reference. Also attached is an updated list of employees over-due for respirator fit testing. Per the 3-9-90 wewo. these ewolovees wav not be assigned to work requiring the use of negative pressure respirators until their fit testing is current. To help insure that this does not happen and that e cowply vith our Corporate policy on respiratory protection, the following will be accowplished:
1. A list of those not fit tested has been provided to Safety Repair. Safety Repair has been instructed not to issue negative pressure respirators to these ewployees unless evidence of current fit testing is presented (this evidence is provided to the ewployee at the tiwe of fit testing).
2. Your supervisor(s) should collect the negative pressure devices issued to ewployees as an individual use itew. Your area safety representative will ensure that this is accowplished.
If you are still in need of fit testing for any of your ewployees (and there are a few on the list that probably do need testing because of regular respirator use) contact your safety representative or one of the persons listed on the previously wentioned 3-9-90 wewo.
There is currently a light duty ewployee trained to perforw fit testing and available at this tiwe. It is not knownfor how long this person will be available. The routine fit testing prograw scheduled to begin in wid-April has been put on hold until later this quarter.
