Whitehead vho rotated to assistant chairman. Y. C. Liu was elected to the committee, replacing J. H. Cross. PLANT LABORATORY AUDITS Five plant laboratories were audited in January and February. They were Departments 44/45/56, 50, 53, 513, and 33. This completes our audit of all plant laboratories. HCN HANDLING GUIDELINES Jay Cross is investigating guidelines for the Tech Center personnel in obtaining and handling HCN. A committee has been formed which he chairs. He will attend our next meeting and give us a status report. SAFETY EQUIPMENT RESPONSIBILITY To assure that proper inspections are performed on Tech Center area safety equipment, supervisors are designating responsibility. Pro cedures are set-up in R-l (Bryant and Collier responsible). R-2 procedures are incomplete but In progress. "DIRTY" CATALYST LAB PREP AREA The Radioisotope Group did a thorough inspection (air, wipes, etc.) of the area and found it to be radioactively clean. A memo was issued. Inspections will be done periodically as deemed necessary. SAFETY SUGGESTION LOGS There was an entry in the R-l log book by C. Collier concerning catalyst dust created by outside personnel using R-l equipment. I talked to Collier who is already taking steps to correct. The committee will not become involved unless guidelines are needed or there are problems implementing. LAM002224 SC 01026 f ( 2- - BROKEN FILTERS ON WATER FOUNTAINS There have been two known incidents recently of major leaks from failure breakage of the plastic covers of water fountain filters. McGinty said it is under investigation. They are looking at pressure and ratings and considering dating and routinely changing. PLANT QUARTERLY INSPECTION K. Finney and J. Garton will be inspectors supplied by this committee for the 1st Quarter Plant Inspection during the first two weeks of April. TECH CENTER SPRING SAFETY AND HOUSEKEEPING INSPECTION The inspection will be performed on April 26. To get technicians more involved, the assistant inspectors will be volunteers from that group.
