Nancy,
Thanks. Gino is terrific (not you and cannot replicate your star power), but we appreciate your making him available.

Lynn, Jeff and I chatted about this. I think that based on where we are with our nano program and our development of alternative methods, Gino Scarino is likely the best person to represent us at this meeting. The meeting falls at a good time for us to talk about our nano strategy development.

Nancy,
The pdfs are attached. The draft agenda is very much a work in progress and the "speakers" are entirely aspirational as no one has been approached except for emails like this

Lynn, Thanks for thinking of me. I can check the calendar to see if it will work, but more details about who attends and what the agenda looks like for the meeting may be helpful. In addition, can you share the PDFs of the previous publications you cite? They don't appear to be open-access. This may help me understand previous workshops and thus the planned workshop better.
Thanks! Nancy

Hi Nancy,
Sierra Club v. EPA 18cv3472 NDCA

I am on an organizing committee for a program being planned by the UCLA Center for Environmental Implications of Nanotechnology (CEIN). We are working on a February 20-21,2018, Workshop titled Where do we Stand on NanoGovernance? Looking Back and Forward. The hosts are Tim Malloy, Andre Nel, and Hilary Godwin, UC CEIN.
The goal is to convene opinion leaders, academia, industry, government, and NGOs to engage in a discussion on how voluntary and regulatory development of data for product stewardship and regulatory purposes and decision-making can be met by integrated approaches to testing and assessment (IATA) that leverages alternative testing strategies (ATS) and adverse outcome pathways (AOPs) for nanomaterials. Additionally, the meeting will cover nano-governance over the past decade with a view of shaping the future of how the field may (or should) move forward, including consideration of risk assessment, risk prevention and management (i.e., mitigation, safety by design.)
To address these topics, opinion leaders will make short statements and pose questions, which will be followed by roundtable discussion. An overarching objective of this workshop is to produce and disseminate a report addressing steps needed to drive broader implementation of integrated testing approaches, decision making approaches, and effective nanogovernance. This workshop follows successful multi-stakeholder workshops on Alternative Testing Strategies (A C S Nano, 2013, 7, 6422-6433) and Categorization Strategies for Engineered Nanomaterials (A C S Nano, 2015, 9, 3409-3417).
Given your critically important role in policy, governance, and risk assessment, I join my colleagues in hoping you will consider participating in this workshop, if only for a day, given your jam-packed schedule. LA is a great place to visit in February, and we sure could use your wisdom.
How about it??
