Williams (2) We want to inform all of our employes that exposure to asbestos dust presents health hazards,./ The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health has printed 'a booklet entitled "CAUTION: ASBESTOS DUST...", which presents the known facts in an easy to understand manner. This booklet points out that it is the government's job, . management's job and the job of all employes to do their part so that we can reduce the hazards of asbestos. We realize that a large majority of our salaried employes and some of our wage-roll people are not working with asbestos. However, the following statements appear on page 7 of the booklet: "Asbestos Pollution affects everyone! A' significant asbestos dust level has been found in the air in large cities and suburbs. Dust originates from asbestos industry, con ' structxon sites, the wear of brake linings, clutch plates, mufflers." In view of the above and also in case of a transfer to an .area here where exposure might take place, we have decided to make this booklet available to every salaried and wage-roll employe at Haveg-Marshallton. It is requested that each supervisor and/or foreman hold a meeting with his people, distribute the booklet and; hold a short discussion on the contents. In the case of our wage-roll employes, this could be done at one of the weekly safety.meetings. Please accomplish this no later than November 9, 1973. and send me a note confirming that everyone in your department has received the booklet and a short explanation. The Personnel -Department will also see that this booklet is given to each new employe placed on our payroll.
