Dr* Robert A. Kshoe Kettering Laboratories Cincinnati School of Medicine Cineinnati, Obio Dear Dr. Ifehoe:
Mr. I. A. Boyd passed on to rce this morning a story regarding the alleged offsets of Ethyl G&solina on a Standard Oil of Indiana -oiaployee which was bold to bin by Mr, Gilbert, Chief Chemist of the Cadillac Motor Car Company. You doubtless are already familiar with this, but I 'thought perhaps there is a remote chance that you are not.
Some friends of tho Gilbert family from "Yestern Springs, 111., were recently visiting in Detroit, and told a-story about an employee of a station which cold Ethyl Gasoline who had lost his eye sight due to an accident which caused Ethyl Gasoline bo be sprayed into his eyes. Mr. Gilbert was not certain about the connany in whose filling station the accident occurred, although he was almost certain it was a station of the Standard Oil Company of Indiana* Since Mr. Gilbert's friends returned to Western Springs, they have written him that excitement is running quite high in the coiwnunity ana -hat even they have become soiaowh&t convinced that the trouble was largely due to the ETHYLfluid in the gasoline. They -state that they are taking all the precautions possible to prevent their.children from getting anywhere near Ethyl Gasoline. It seems that the injured employee has sued the oil company which owns the station*
It so happens that Mr. Jordan, of our Chicago office, ms in Ttetroit today, but he said he had not heard anything about such an. accident.
With kindest personal regards, Very truly yours, ETHYL GASOLITIECOHPORATIOH
