GRACE MEMO to: B. J. Mees from: B. D. Pollock location: Ajax Office as S. A. Magnacca J. B. Lahey*-^ 0641893 date: September 2, 1981 tubjca: Ore Con con t rate Tremolite Notice In June 1980, CPD - U.S. notified all ore concentrate customers of the fact that asbestos in the form of tremolite was present in the ore which they were receiving. Attached is a copy of the notice as well as Frank Blazik's memo outlining our intentions regarding notification to Canadian customers. I do not know whether or not such notices were issued in Canada. However, no changes to the bags themselves to include a*warning label, as described in the memo, have taken place. The text of the printed warning on the ore concentrate bags in the U.S. reads as follows: CAUTION Contains Asbestos Fibres Avoid creating dust Breathing asbestos dust may cause serious bodily harm I would appreciate it if you would discuss tlje ramifications of placing this notice on all ore concentrate bags with Allan and let me know your views. I believe it most appropriate that such a warning notice be present on ore concentrate packaging and would like to begin this practice as soon as possible. B. D. Pollock/sg JJECEMED - JJIL SEP.3 W8I
