Each tank was vigorously stirred p|ior to addition of the test animals. Stability and solubility of indilution water were, not determined. B. Dilution Vater ' Vater (Table 1) originated from the Haskell Laboratory well. C. Test Fish : Fathead minnows tPimephaies promelas) were reared in continuously flowing well water at Haskell Laboratory. Adult fish resided in 38 L aquaria at approximately 25#C and vere fed frozen brine shrimp (Artemla s., San Francisco Bay Brand, Newark, GA) generally twice daily, once on Saturdays and not on Sundays. Eggs were deposited on polyvinyl chloride tiles coated with sand. Tiles with eggs were aejrated and incubated at 25C in a water bath. Larvae were reared in 22 L aquaria at approximately 22C and were fed newly hatched Artemia generally twicje daily on weekdays and daily on weekends. Juveniles were held in 22 L aqkiaria at approximately 21C and were fed newly hatched Artemia and/or frozen urine shrimp generally twice daily on Weekdays, once on Saturdays and not on Sundays. No treatment of the fish for diseases was required during the holding period. Sickness, injury or abnormality were not present. Animals were identified by labels on aquaria and test vessels. D. Test Methods [1] Five test concentrations and a water control were used. Nominal test concentrations were 313, 625, 1250, 2500 and 5000 mg/L. Fathead minnows of approximate age 88 days, mean Length 2.3 cm and mean weight 0.149 g were used. Observations vere made twice dhiiy. Glass aquaria (5 L) containing 4 L of test solution (12-cm depth) were employed. Two replicates of e^ch test concentration with ten fish in each replicate were usfed. Fish were added to test aquaria using random numbers and were not fed for approximately!48 hours prior to the test nor during the test. Mean loading was 0.37 g/L. Tet solutions vere held between 21.9 and 22.7C (mean 22.3BC) and were unaerat^d. A photoperiod of 16 hours light (237 to 269 Lux) versus 8 hours darkness vas employed. 7 CdTflpjjfty Sanitized.
