Environmental Protection Agency Region 4 Air Enforcement Branch 61 Forsyth Street, SW Atlanta, Georgia 30303 INSPECTION REPORT Facility Inspected 271 17th Street, Northwest, Suite 2100 Atlanta, Georgia 30363 Inspection Date: June 12, 2024 3601678636 LAT: 33.7936 LON: -84.3787 Inspection Type Clean Air Act (CAA) National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) - Asbestos Inspectors Pamela Storm Introduction An inspection pursuant to Section 114 of the CAA was conducted on June 12, 2024, at 271 17th Street, Northwest, Suite 2100, in Atlanta, Georgia 30363 (the Facility). The unannounced inspection was conducted by Pamela Storm and Tony Spann who possess EPA inspector credentials to conduct CAA NESHAP asbestos inspections. The Facility is an office for Smith and Howard, a certified public accountant. The inspectors discovered that renovation had occurred at the Facility by obtaining a copy of Permit #BB-202401830 issued by the City of Atlanta on March 1, 2024. The permit was issued for the interior demolition of non-load bearing walls, partitions, and finishing materials. The permit specifies CA South, LLC as the general contractor located at 800 Battery Avenue in Marietta, Georgia 30064 and Smith and Howard, 271 17th Street, Northwest, Suite 1600, in Atlanta, Georgia 30363 as the Facility owner. The renovation activity was not observed at the time of this inspection. The purpose of the inspection was to determine compliance with the CAA NESHAP Asbestos Standard and the regulations promulgated at 40 CFR Part 61, Subpart M, for the renovation activity conducted at the Facility. The EPA Region 4 CAA NESHAP asbestos program targets facilities for inspection located in the State of Georgia based on tips/complaints; permits issued on a local level; demolition and/or renovation/abatement notices sent to the State; and other relevant information concerning renovation/demolition activities at regulated facilities. This inspection was conducted based on the aforementioned permit for renovation activity at the Facility. Facility Information The Facility is an accounting business office. EPA will contact Takia Young and possibly other owners/operators to obtain more information about the renovation of the Facility. Conclusion EPA will discuss the renovation activity with the owners/operators to determine if the requirements of the Asbestos NESHAP were met when conducting the renovations.
