Use CAUTION: ALWAYS renew brake shoes or liningsin axle sets to avoir/uneven braking, if a brake drum is damaged and is repaired by skimming out to oversize, then the other drum of the axfe set MUST also be made oversize and an axle set oi oversize linings fitted. Renew parts as necessary Examine the parking brake mechanism tor wear, damage or corrosion. Renew pans as necessary Examine the backplate and grease baffle for damage, tightness of mounting bolts to the hub flange, security of Ihe brake shoe steady posts and excessive corrosion. The earner piate retaining nuts must be checked by tightening them to the specified torque. If the nuts move during this check, they must be removed and discarded and new self locking nuts fitted and tightened to the specified torque after cleaning and applying the specified loctite to the threads of the retaining bolts.
