Grumbles November 18, 1988 Interoffice Communication SUBJ: PROGRESS REPORT FOR PERIOD ENDING NOVEMBER 18, 1988 Below is a summary of the Biomedical and Environmental Affairs Department's activities for the last two weeks: 1. A symposium on the environmental acceptability of LAS was held in Aachen, FRG. Attenders included environmentalists, regulators, scientists, and industry people. The tone of the meeting was positive although the environmentalists were vocal. There were no surprises. The meeting will help define future research. 2. JCL attended Interpersonal Skills Management. 3. MMG attended HMAC's annual conference on hazardous materials transportation. Topics included risk management, a new Hazardous Materials Transportation Act, international changes ahead, and the U.S. highway system. 4. EPA is allowing us to review and correct SARA 313 data entry errors made in the computer database. The computer database will be accessible to the public via local libraries next summer. 5. Provided assistance to LCCP in shipping a nickel catalyst sample from the solvent reactors to Ponca City for analysis. 6. The annual Industrial Hygiene was help on the 1st and 76th at Lake Conroe. Over 20 people attended including manufacturing management. Multiple regulatory and program areas were reviewed with multiple action items generated for all. 7. The Environmental Manpower Assessment Team Report was issued to management this week. 8. A meeting was held at the LCCP to review industrial hygiene sampling and equipment needs.
