5--Removing the Hazard from the Job active cooperation of the safety professional In some instances, the purchase of ma chinery or equipment involves engineering de tails of great importance For such purchases, the industrial establishment will undoubtedly have a system whereby definite specifications, perhaps including drawings, will first be pre pared by engineers These plans and specifi cations will then be carefully checked by the safety professional before bids and estimates of cost are solicited The purchasing agent will have the plans and specifications at hand when he asks for prices However, he will want to keep in close touch with the safety professional throughout the negotiations in order to use the latter's knowledge and experience in ac cident prevention.
