The Main Committee of C-ll on Ceilings and Walls was called to order at 8:30 a.m., on June 23, 1977 in Weber's Inn, Ann Arbor, Michigan by Chairman R. A. Kuntze. APPROVAL OF MINUTES On motion made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the January 1977 meeting in San Diego, California were approved as distri buted. v-v-> --___ de*>. ex. Isberner's negative to change anbiant temperature requirements from 40 F.to 50 F. is non-persuasive because of a lack of technical evidence to support the change. The motion carried 13 affirmative, 0 negative, 0 ab staining. > r/ A motion was made and seconded, that Mr. P. Sereda's nega tive objection to the definition of admixture and additive is non persuasive since the definitions of these terms are different. His negative on gypsum lath was declared non-persuasive because gypsum products are used on protected soffits. The motion carried 13 affirma tive, 0 negative and 0 abstaining. A motion was made, seconded and carried to revise Table 2 of Standard C 75^ and place the-standard on concurrent main and sub committee letter ballot for approval. Mr. Shull requested the Executive Subcommittee approve placing on C-11.02 and C-11.03 agendas the development of standards for water-based spray textures. The recommendation was approved by Chairman Kuntze. On motion made, seconded and carried, the C-11.03 Subcom mittee report was approved. Subcommittee C-11.90 and Executive Chairman, R. A. Kuntze, presented the report of the Executive Subcommittee which met June 22, 1977 with four of its seven members present. The following items were discussed: 1. Membership - Membership applications from Mr. Ken Grise of Arizona Lath and Plaster Information Center was approved. C-ll now has 57 voters consisting of 27 Producers, 17 Users, and 13 Gen eral Interest members. 2. Subcommittee Chances - Mr. J. E. Gillespie requested he be relieved of the cnairmarsnip of Subcommittee C-11.02 because he was reducing his several responsibilities in view of reaching retirement from his organization. The Executive Committee approved the appointment of Mr. A. 1. Hampton to succeed Mr. Gillespie at a mutually agreeable time between them. 3. Subcommittee C--11.02 on Specifications and Test Methods for Accessories and Related Products - Chairman J. E. Gillespie pre sented the report of the subcommittee which was essentially as de tailed in the attached subcommittee report. Main committee actions with respect to the subcommittee report were as follows: A motion was made, seconded and carried that revision to Standard C 645 be placed on concurrent main and subcommittee letter ballot. A motion was made, seconded and carried that revision to Standard C 646 be placed on concurrent main and subcommittee letter ba1 lot. A motion was made, seconded and carried that drafts of new standards for type W and type G screws be placed on concurrent main and subcommittee letter ballot. A motion was made and seconded that Mr. P. Sereda's nega tive on Item 2, ballot C-11.01 (77~l) concerning Section 6.1.2 be declared non-persuasive in the absence of any scientific supporting data or reported similar experience by other C--11 members. The motion carried 13 affirmative, 0 negative, 0 abstaining. A motion was made, seconded and carried that a proposed Standard Specification for Exterior Surface Applied Bonding Agents is to be placed on main committee letter ballot for approval. A motion was made, seconded and carried to place Standards C *47*+ and C 557 on concurrent main and subcommittee ballot for re affirmation following Editorial Subcommittee review. Mr. Gillespie reported ASTM Committee F--16 on Fasteners is drafting a nail specification that will include nails for gypsum lath and wallboard. He requested a C-11 member be appointed to es tablish liaison with F-16 to monitor this activity. Chairman Kuntze will propose a candidate before the next meeting. Mr. Hampton had recommended the hazard warning to be placed in Standard C 475 be deleted. This resulted in a motion in the sub committee to delete the proposed note, but substitute another note: "This product dees not contain asbestos." Chairman Gillespie re quested the Executive Subcommittee stJdy this issue. Chairman Gillespie suggested a new subcommittee be establis'-d as an "Environmental Subcommittee" to review all C-11 Stand ards for any necessary disclaimers or precautions relating to hazard ous materials.
