July 36, 1950 t o ccKPArrss c o o p s r a t ik o ik t h e c o ix b c t io h OF SECONDARY METAL STATISTICS: We are now prepared to begin the collection and dis tribution of the Secondary Lead Statistics referred to in our memorandum of July 18, 1330, and substantially as outlined therein. *A few suggestions for improving the value of the report were made by reporting companies, chiefly in the direc tion of permitting a balancing of the items, and these refine ments have beer. Incorporated in the enclosed form, for reporting your July production and stocks. Similar forms will be mailed you regularly each month. Please fill out end return the orig inal promptly so that the statistics when published will be of the utmost timeliness, retaining the duplicate for your files. The basis upon which reports should be made 1 as follows, all figures to be reported in short tons: 1. Old Lead Battery Platee and Parts - Receipts (a) The dry net weight of old battery plates and parts received during the month should be reported, allowance being made for wood, rubber and paper. (b) Estimate aleo the recoverable lead content. (c) Estimate also the recoverable antimony content. Resales of battery plates and parts as battery plates and parts to other reporting companies should not be reported. 2.
