Purpose:
This visit was made at the recuest of our Cleveland P.egicnai Office in order to evaluate poesihle exposures to total dues, silica and asbestos
dust.
Also a aoiss survey v&a conducted in possible noise exposure areas.
A g en eral u niv through survey was a ls o esse to check dor possible in d u stria l hygiene problem areas.

The equipment U3 ed during the course of the survey consisted of two Ins Safety Appliance Gravimetric Lust Samplers,' The tvs samplers vers attached at the breathing sons of tvs workers working at 0-S Area (Pul and 0-7 Area (Pulper). large quantities cf both silica and aebestos utilined at both locations. The sampling rate vs a 1.7 liters per minute for a rvo hour sample.
Also a "Oast Pump" vas used at 0-2 Area (Oven "nlriding) ice gatsEring a stationary total dust sample, he sampling rate was 3.0 liters per mimute for a ree nsur sampus.

6 E m U S ? SYSTEMS
An effective exhaust system car be a very definite control nsasurs if *
properly designed, installed, and naintsined.
The approach, to on properly designed exhaust Eystom is as follows:
1. Design each systea for the specific operatic!.
2. Insure that the exhaust eystec in effective in controlling
potostial exposuren.
3. Doeua-st the design standards fcr each unit, face velocities, act L. Hsasura air flows aoni-annually to dctemiae that the unit is
functioning as designad-
5. Calculate the total volune cf air exhausted and provide an equal
voiura cf cake-up air.
6. ^eap doors -'' windows closed.
7. No pedestal cr window, fans should bs used.
B. Haviav overall exhaust systems annually.
