SHELL DEER PARK MANUFACTURING COMPLEX INTEROFFICE MEMO TO: Jerry Stallings FROM: Bill Smithson DATE: October 25, 1988 RE: Asbestos Monitoring Results for Reboiler E-457 Located at LOFU Industrial hygiene monitoring was conducted with your personnel during the recent insulation removal project on Reboiler E-457 which is located in LOFU. The purpose of the monitoring was to determine environmental asbestos emissions, if any, during the project. This project required the erection of a negative pressure enclosure and establishing of a decontamination area. As summarized in the Attachment, results of the area samplings were well below the 0.1 F/cc, which indicated that asbestos emission was contained inside the negative pressure enclosure. According to the OSHA regulations you must communicate the report to the affected employees and I would encourage posting of the report in an area accessible to other similar craft personnel for their review also.
