C-8 test results on both area and personal samples in the fine powder area are much higher in 1985 than previous years. The Industrial
Hygiene Report for October 1984- October 1985 indicated that 10 area samples were above 100% of the established A.E.L. for C-8 in the most recent analysis. In addition.. two personal samples durin9 the past year haue had results exceeding the established A.E.L.
Some of the area samples have increased greatly over the past four years. For example, the Fine Powder dryer control room has had results of 2.997 and 4.35 mpb C-8 in 1985 (535 and 776 % of the A.E.L.,
respectively). However, in 1382 and 1983 it was rare for this sample
location to reach even 30 % of the A.E.L. To discuss this upward trend in the C--8 test results and to
decide what action is needed in the area, I would appreciate your .participation in a meetin9 on Thursday, Oct. 24, at 10;00-11;OQ am, in

appreciated. Some of the questions that I would like to discuss at the
meeting ares
Have C-8 test results on blood samples shown a similar increase in level
for operators workin9 in the Fine Powder area? Do the area samples indicate a significant increase in the C-8 level?
Are the results valid? What changes in the area have occurred over the past two years which could
explain a rise in the C--8 levels? Mhat actions should be taken by area supervision to reduce C-8 levels? Do the current C-8 test results (both air and blood samples) indicate
that a health hazard may exist?
