They are intended as guides and may be subject to wide variations for such obvious reasons as shipping economy, grouping within a rail car, etc. Warehouse inventories have been selected as about a two-month supply based on monthly sales averages for the past 24 months and tempered by the monthly average for the 1976 Forecast II. (Generally, these numbers are not significantly different.) Products carried in some of the warehouses have been changed based on current requirements. King City inventories were similarly selected, but represent a onemonth supply. In some cases, values are somewhat arbitrary; they do not include, for example, RG-100 or CG-135 for which we have no reasonable inventory requirements. It is anticipated that shipments will be made to a warehouse as the level of a product therein drops to one half its suggested level. In this way, replacement material should arrive before any level reaches zero. Sales types will need to advise me when changes in sales levels will affect the requirements in any warehouse. The reorganization of the Asbestos Sales Group in October, 1981, has resulted in Commercial Sales shipments direct to customers, and Distributor Sales shipments direct to distributor warehouses thereby eliminating UCC-MD warehousing activities, i.e., reducing charges in 1982, and eliminating charges in I983. We are anticipating no warehousing costs for 1983. It should be kept in mind that we have always set warehouse pricing to recover all the associated costs and have probably erred on the plus side. For this reason, we are not proposing that we will "save money", but we will reduce the strain on our cash-flow by closing all warehouses. Please let me know if you need any further details.
