The b a s i s of t h i s action is an alleged lead poisoning while working in cleaning out a tank for the Gulf Oil Corporation about the f i r s t of Feb r u a r y , 1940 . Out of t h i s o p e r a t i o n a r o s e two o t h e r c l a i m s , one f o r w h ic h we h a v e r e c e n t l y s e t t l e d , a n d one f o r a m a ^ w h o d i e d , a n d we were f o r t u n a t e enough t o e f fe c t^ ra a s o n a b le settlement with his estate. In the present case o f ^ 1 ^ h o w e v e r , t h e y a r e d em an di ng w h a t we t h i n k i s a n u n reaso n ab le amount, e s p e c i a l l y f o r a c o lo re d man, t h a t i s #5,000.
