In response to your request to be notified of the results of the determination, of serum PCB levels, performed on blood drawn during the
NIOSH survey of workers occupationally exposed to polychlorinated
biphenyls in August 1977, we are providing the following information. Serum PCS levels, measured on blood drawn at the time of the survey, are reported here as 'lower chlorinated biphenyls " (L-PCBs) and 'higher chlorinated biphenyls' (H-PCBs). The L-PCBa ate predominantly
biphenyl molecules with 4 or fewer chlorine atoms per molecule, and the H-PCBs are predominantly biphenyl molecules with $ or greater
chlorine atoms per molecule.

The 'highest levels found among persons without occupational exposure* were chosen since 97.5 percent of wotkers not occupationally exposed to peas at the two utility companies, who participated in the survey,
had serins L-PCB and H-PCB levels less than these values.
If you have any questions regarding these results, please do not hesitate to call ns in Cincinnati at (5131-814-3593.
